The first try for a wml::std::lang is now available as:

http://www.engelschall.com/sw/wml/distrib/wml-SNAP/wml_include/std/lang.src

It already provides the tags <lang:new>, <lang:area> and <lang:xx> and works
fine. Try it out. Because WML 1.4.2 needs some more days to release because
I'm still doing platform portability tests. See
http://www.engelschall.com/sw/wml/distrib/wml-SNAP/PORTING for more details.
Currently WML pre-1.4.2 works fine under all major platforms except IRIX.
Under this beast I've ran into problems with "cc -n32" inside ePerl. Hmmm I'll
investigate more, because I really want 1.4.12 to build and run under all
major platforms out-of-the-box.
