ANNOUNCE: WML 1.6.5

After a long time of silence I'm back with a maintainance release of WML:

The entry from the ChangeLog:

  Changes between 1.6.4 and 1.6.5:
      980323 - added the HTML Specifications in ASCII form
               to wml_docs/. These are now directly accessible
               via WMd.
      980403 - Upgraded Bit::Vector from 5.1 to 5.2
               (which now is again under Artistic and GPL)
             - Upgraded Getopt::Long from 2.15 to 2.16
      980404 - Made /etc/resolv.conf parsing in configure more
               robust [Thanks to Stephane Bortzmeyer
               <bortzmeyer@pasteur.fr> for hint]
             - Removed stream-stuff from Pass 2 (MHC) because
               it's TCP stuff caused problems on some platforms
               and WML does not need it.  [Thanks to Stephane

      980405 - Upgraded iSelect from 1.0.4 to 1.1.0
      980417 - Fixed generation of 'alt' tags in wml::des::navbar

      980616 - Upgraded Bit::Vector from 5.2 to 5.3
             - Fixed non-"site_lib" installation of Getopt::Long

The distribution size was increased dramatically (500KB) because of the added
HTML spec documents. But IMHO it is worth the size, because one always needs
these documents at hand. Now you can access ASCII versions of them directly
via `wmd'.

Sorry for the delay of this release but, as you perhaps know, I'm an Apache
Group core team member and active developer and were really busy in April and
May with Apache 1.3b6, then 1.3b7 and then finally with kicking out 1.3.0.
I've personally added a lot of new features to Apache 1.3 for the pleasure of
the net community (i.e. _YOU_!), so I'm sure you understand that the WML
project had to wait a little bit ;-) But because WML 1.6.x is really stable
since a few months this shouldn't hurt us.

Currently I'm writing my diploma thesis until Aug 15, 1998, so don't expect
active WML enhancements in the next weeks. Stay at 1.6.4 if you're happy and
perhaps upgrade to WML 1.6.5 if you want the new documents, etc. But there is
no real need. WML 1.6.4 is stable enough. When I find time the next project
which gets it is ePerl where some bug reports are in the queue.

PS: Sorry for the FreeBSD users who didn't received updates of the
    WML port for 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 (as I said I was busy with Apache 1.3).  WML
    1.6.5 is already in the ports now. Feel free to use it to install WML
    under FreeBSD.
