you may read the documentation (type wmd), and then try
<lang:new id=en>
<lang:new id=fr>
<lang:en: Hello><lang:fr: Salut>

(note the extra space) or

<lang:new id=en short>
<lang:new id=fr short>
<en>Hello</en>
<fr>Salut</fr>
