Tobias, maybe it's because ipp means ``Include Pre-Processor''?
I think Ralf added the -D option when he used ipp in conjonction with
wml, but he never implemented #define.
The -D option is more general, because variables are defined for all
passes. I am not sure it will be clear to the end-user that the variable
defined with #define becomes meaningless after the first pass, so it is
not a good idea (IMHO, of course :o).
