The other workaround is the one by Tobias, he changed navbar:define so
that it accepts imgstarsep="|" imgstar="n|s|o"

This is fine. Just pick a convention for contributed files that helps
to avoid name clashes (navbar-hars.wml or FHnavbar.wml or whatever)
and encourage people to stick to it.
Maybe you should put something like

# See http://www.hars.de/www/wml_navbars.html for further information
# or newer versions.

in the file. I'll probably change the name of my file to the name you
use in wml_contrib.
