bah!  thanks for spotting this.  i must have been running debian
unstable when i installed wml ages ago.  the recent perl upgrade
removed it, and when i reinstalled it, i got the 1.7.4 from testing
instead of the 2.0.6 from unstable.  i'm going to try grabbing 2.0.6
from unstable and letting it install what it needs to install.
